This wedding was such a special one for us. Our brother Jon was getting married! Knowing the bride and groom so well and really sharing in their joy makes photographing the day even more fun than usual.
Larissa started the day with her brothers, who began their celebrating with a bit of craft beer tasting while I went to Ashley's home to drool over her fabulous red sparkly shoes. She was perfectly calm and ready when I arrived having already done her makeup and been to Carousel Salon in South Plainfield for her hair. I couldn't get over how serene and quiet the house was! While the girls finished getting ready, Larissa joined me and we covered detail shots of Ashley's beautiful flowers from Stanley Florist and their fantastic wedding rings that are just so very Jon and Ashely. Then after some fun photos outside it was off to the church!
Middlebush Reformed Church in Somerset is such a beautiful old church, chosen by Jon and Ashley specifically for it's stonework and gorgeous red doors. Jon and Ashley put so much thought into really making the day something that showed their personalities and tastes, from the black and red colors to the very non-traditional music selections for the ceremony. ;) Not everyone can pull off walking down the aisle to a song by the rock band Pandorum, but for these two it was perfect!
After the ceremony and a bit of tripod wrangling so that Larissa and I could be in the family portrait, we headed to a beautiful spot by the canal in Griggstown for photos with the newlyweds and their bridal party. Guests were able to just walk across the street to The Stage House where Jon and Ashley had a fun, low key reception complete with a game of corn hole and an AMAZING brownie tower from Blue Sheep Bake Shop. Not only were the brownies gorgeous but, oh my, were they delicious!
Jon and Ashley, we are so very happy for you and so excited to welcome another sister to the family.
Love you!
Naomi and Larissa
